Water sound?

Hi,

I am new to this forum and not very car techy so please bear with me! In July I bought a Civic Type S and have had no end in problems since. First of all can I return my car? (Joking, though curious if I could?)

I actually love the car, it's great to drive, looks fab but unfortunately seems to be falling apart. Within less than a week I had to bring it back in to have all the seals replaced on the tailgate because a significant amount of water was leaking into the boot when I opened it (after it rained). Then about 6 weeks later (2 weeks ago) I had to bring it back in again because something (sorry forgot the name, I did warn you) got loose in between the interior and exterior of the tailgate which meant a screw came out which meant the entire exterior left corner of the tailgate was loose. Seriously I could almost bend the exterior backwards.

Now something else is bothering me... for the last few weeks I have noticed especially when I start the car there is this water "sloshing around" sound coming from it. I didn't think much of it for a while until other people started commenting on it. I don't know where it is coming from but you especially hear it when I start moving the car and occasionally when driving. Any ideas as to what it is? I'm pretty sure it didn't make that sound when I first bought the car.

Sorry for the long message, thought a bit of history would be useful.

Any thoughts appreciated

Nathalie.

P.S. Got car washed today for first time and its now covered in scratches. Not Honda's fault I know. But really feeling despondent now...

When did you buy the car? from a dealer or private? If your covered by warranty you should be able to get it sorted.
you didn't put it through the car wash did you???

Edit:

A sloshing sound? that must be quite a bit of water ingress

All 8th Gen to mid 07 (?) have a problem with the doors filling with water. The solution is to remove the square rubber bungs on the bpttom edge of the doors to allow the drain holes to flow. The bungs have a small flap supposedly to let water out but they get blocked with muck. So dead easy, remove the bungs and through them away.

 I gave my doors a good squirt of WD40 for good measure. Just use the nozzle extension and poke it in the drain and put plenty in. It will disperse the moisture and help prevent corrosion.

Oh dear Nathalie, I completely understand what you are going through, BUT nothing to worry about...because this is just the beggining...
I am actually writing to honda they can either give my money back or give me a new car as my one is also falling apart...

Hello, this is quite an old posting but I was amazed when I read it. I too had the leaking boot which needed the seal replaced, and I too only about a week ago experienced the "sloshing". My sloshing came from the inside of my passenger door which had filled up with rain water - sounds like you had the same problem.

I just removed the bungs and drained the water. I have not put them in again yet - still undecided whether or not there is much use for them!

It is a common problem with the 8th gen, I removed the rubber bungs and re-bored the drainage hole in the bung to make it a bit wider. You just need to make sure you open your passenger door after a down pour to allow the collected water to drain away. Pretty stupid design if you ask me.
