This is an easy one for those who have a 1999 1.4 honda civic 3 door hatchback

Basically the temp needle seems to be a lot higher than usual. When I look closely it looks bang on in middle but from far it does look higher. I checked the pipes to see if the thermostat is opening which it is.

I have had a civic before which was a 1996 1.6 vti and it did sit in the middle.

May be these engines run at a higher temp than the 1.5 and 1.6,

Can someone let me know if this is normal. Thanks. Heres the pic.

mines in the middle too. maybe its just the guage. get a temp guage in your dipstick filler to see how hot the oil in the sump is. once its warmed up it shouldnt be more than 90C and after a hard drive it shouldnt be much more than 140C. (im guessing the temps here, someone give more accurate ones)

ok
oil temps normally run between 98 - 110 on a normal engine under normal situations , but if you have been ragging the hell out of it in the middle of summer this will go up , if it goes up on a regular basis ie. your a nut case , get an oil cooler as oil starts breaking down in excessive of 140 .

water temps should be around 90 never going above 110 , they fan on the rad should come in before then.
