ive got a 1.4E 04 civic its done approx 18k
often when i go into reverse then bring up the clutch it slips out!
my m8 thinks the gears may be slightly out of alignment but i know practically nothing about cars!

any advice on what it could be and how to get it fixed?

if the gearstick slips out of gear it could be the DETENTIONERS because they hold it in gear...all it is is a ball and spring but may be expensive to fix

before you put it in, put in neutral and then press clutch and put into gear. if it slips out you have a problem. if it stays then theres some slight wear but most cars just wont go straight in. fords say hold clutch down for 3 secs before moving lever. mine doesnt go in always, my oil needs changing though so thats what i suspect (10 years old, 57k miles)
