i tend not to read the max wattage as this doesnt mean any thing, this is just wat they did as a test by runnin 1 note of music thru a speaker at incresead wattage until it blew up, so u could never listen to music at 1200w. what u want the read is the RMS wattage. i know the RMS of the sony explode subs are about 360w, so aslong as the amp u using is equal or below it ul be fine
the amp should be above the speakers rms not below , as then you are not hammering the amp to the max as in general the amps a load more money than the speakers ,
but im 100% with you on the max wattage thing its a marketing ploy as much as anything RMS is real .
