Afternoon All,

Just signed up to this forum in the hope to get some owners reviews as I plan to buy a 05/06 plate Civic 2.0 i-VTEC TYPE R next month. Been doing my homework and this seems to be a good all round car for performance, economy etc. that wont bankrupt me I hope!

If anyone has this car and could take sometime and answer the below I’d be extremely grateful. :)

-Is there much difference between the original released one and the final edition? (Is it just the seats?)
-It's definitely the sort of car that gets abused (and why not) so should i have my fears if I buy privately? (Things to look for?)
-I know it varies dependent on area (why I have no idea) but how much do you guys pay to service it? (Minor and major)

Lastly if you have any general comments on what you love about the car that would be great. Help me make my mind up. :)

Cheers
Dan

1. Final edition (known as the `Premier`) also has the 3 rear windows tinted, `type r` engraved into the front calipers, and red carpetting. The Recaro seats are much better than the standard items

2. The car is meant to be driven hard. As long as it`s regularly serviced though, it will be fine. The main thing to look out for is the steering rack. If it doesn`t seem to be self centreing correctly, avoid

3. A 3 year service would cost me around £160 at Honda. Think they charge around 60-80 an hour, dependant on where you live. Personally I use independent Honda specialist garages. They place more importance on customer service than any garage with a big manufacturer`s backing. Oh and they are cheaper! For example, a 3 year service with an MOT is £160. The big service is the 75k one, expect between 4 and 5 hundred pounds at Honda

I love my car because it is everything I want. It is very fast, the handling is fantastic, averages 34 MPG, is very sexy, very reliable, relatively cheap to run i.e. tyres and brakes, and lots of quality tuning parts available. My only dislike is it`s not the best car for long distance touring i.e. no cruise control, sporty seats aren`t designed for maximum comfort, and changing down a gear or 2 to get maximum performance can be tiresome on long trips

Thanks Nick. Your opinion seems to be the view of many. Most reviews I have read praise this rendition of the Civic.
I am quite glad the servicing isnt too expensive. I pay about that now for my Fiat so its not a shock at least.

One final question.....what year did the `Premier` come out? 2005/2006? (like the additions on this model)
