This is the first photo of the stunning new Civic that the Honda Racing Team will defend its Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship titles with in 2012.
Launched last year at the Frankfurt Motor Show in Germany, the latest shape Civic – built by preparation specialist Team Dynamics to the BTCC’s turbocharged Next Generation Touring Car regulations – is due to make its public debut later today in a test at the Brands Hatch circuit in Kent.
Reigning Drivers’ Champion Matt Neal and team-mate Gordon Shedden, runner-up in the table in 2011, are both expected to get a run in the car. Together they racked up no fewer than 13 race wins last season as Honda/Dynamics and Honda Racing also swept to the BTCC’s Manufacturer/Constructor and HiQ Teams trophies.
In addition to the factory-entered Civics of Neal and Shedden, Dynamics has built a further two cars for independent squad Pirtek Racing’s drivers Andrew Jordan and Jeff Smith for use in this year’s championship.
The Civic, built to the BTCC’s latest turbocharged Next Generation Touring car regulations, has made an immediate impression with on-lookers, one telling btcc.net: “You cannot believe how much bulk it has until you see it in the flesh – a real mean machine.”
^That. Front end is stonking, seen it a few times on the road and I think they've got it spot on. Really not sure about the back end though, they need to stop persisting with such a low rear window line and high spoiler built into the glass.
Yeah mate, its definitely usefull in BTCC, just wish it was something that was designed to fit in with the car more but as long as it does what it needs to thats what matters!
have honda launched any pictures of a type r gen8 yet? hope they've binned off the rear torsion beam like what they used on the fn2! any car wearing a type r badge should be a precision focused machine! not a bit wobbly in the bends! (sorry fn2 owners) :shifty:
Stickered up and ready to go!
