Hey folks to save starting a new thread i though i'd post here.

Ive got a ej6 with a d16y7 engine but im getting a del sol with a b16a2 engine as a donor car coz the bodywork has been used for a differnt project so the rest of the car is going to scrap so i though i'd grab it quick before that happens, everything is fine mechanically, so ill have the engine, gearbox, driveshafts, ecu (dont know what kind), everything there but what if anyting will i need to spend to get it into my car and running properly?

I'll have all the equipment there so im gonna try the conversion myself, my grandad is a panelbeater but know a bit about mechanics so he's gonna give me a hand to make sure i dont fcuk it up :p

I just need to figure out how much i need cash wise before i start so i dont get 1/2 way through and realise its gonna cost more and keep me off the raod :)

thanks in advance

Colin

if you have the whole donor car the expenses arent going to be that high.. everything swaps over, mounts, shafts etc. replace the clutch since its out though.
good luck with the swap

why will it need remapped?.. use the ecu that came with the engine. the loom for the del sol is a 2 piece design. the one in your ej6 is a 1 piece. so either swap dash and engine loom from the del sol into the ej6 so the plugs match up or use the loom in the ej6 and add wires for vtec

Cool thanks m8, one of my mates (that speaks some amount of sh*t) says that the ecu form the del sol wont work in my car without being unlocked/mapped/chipped or something and my immobiliser will mess up, he's the sort of guy that speaks crap so he sounds like he knows what he's talking about though, hence why i was asking here as at least i know if i ask here i'll get sound advice. I also think he's scared that when its done it'll be quicker than his 106gti lol

Can someone let me know about the EJ2's D15a7 swap to B16A, I Know you have to swap the mounts and ecu, loom ect. but what mounts do you need? also i've found an engine from a friend a B16A first gen import engine, but it needs a power steering pump and a distributor block. Would these fit from the D15 or would i need to get the original bits?

ideally you need a loom that suits both engine and car, facelift looms are obd2b, prefacelifts are obd2a. ecu, dizzy and starter plugs are all different
what did the engine come out of?
ek3,ek4,ek9 are suitable looms
