For all the people who want to Engine swap the civics

Enjoy

Tools: 1/2 inch socket set, Breaker Bar, Torque Wrench, Spanner set up to 24mm, WD40, Copper Grease, Blowtorch (for anything stubborn) OH and of course a big hammer  you'll also need an Engine Crane a friend or 2 and a pallet and straps to secure the engine on the floor.

Now to start:

Chassis:
(1992–1995) -
EG3 1.3 (D13B2)
EG5 1.5/1.6 SOHC(D15B)(D15Z1)(D15Z4)(D15Z6),(D16Y8)(D16Z6)(D16Z6)(D16Z6)(D16Y7)(D16Y5),
EG6 1.6 DOHC (B16A2), EH?, EJ1/EJ2

(1996–2000) -
EK9 1.6 (B16B) TYPE R
EK4 1.6 (B16A2) DOHC

EJ6
EK3 1.5 SOHC(D15B)(D15Z1)(D15Z4)(D15Z6)
EJ8?
EJ9 1.4 (D14A3)(D14A4),
EM1 (1.6 B16A2 vtec dohc )

(1995-2001) -
MB 1.4 (D14A2/A5/A7), 1.5(D15Z8/Z3), 1.6 (D16Y2/Y3,D16W2/W3,D16B2 etc.), (B18C4 1.8 L DOHC VTEC)

Next is the Common Engine swaps in that specific Chassis.

(1992–1995) -
EG3 1.3 (D13B2)
EG5 1.5/1.6 SOCH(D15B)(D15Z1)(D15Z4)(D15Z6),(D16Y8)(D16Z6)(D16Z6)(D16Z6)(D16Y7)(D16Y5),
EG6 1.6 DOHC (B16A2), EH?, EJ1/EJ2

For the EG chassis the EG3 (1.3) and the EG5 (1.5/1.6Sohc) the engine commonly swaped for the SOHC is the B16A2 DOHC VTEC out of the EG6 its a straight swap just need the engine mounts and ECU, Harness ETC, driveShafts, And bigger brakes. ;), However people also put the B18C4/B18C engine into the EG chassis from the MB chassis or Integra Type R's agian you need all the ancillary's ECU, Harness, Loom ETC, Driveshafts, you will need to buy aftermarket engine mounts (i think, Correct me if i am wrong), Also the K20A2 (EP3Civic Type R 2001-2006), K24A2 (CL9 Accord Type S, RB1 Oddyssey), H22A (BB1/BB4/BB6/BB8 preludes) are good engines to put in the EG chassis, BUT they do require severe modifications to get them to fit, e.g(200quid engine mounts), various parts relocated and obviously youll need all the previous parts mention'd before. Shafts/ECU/Loom. Blah Blah

Now for the EK Chassis common swaps will be from EK3 1.5 SOHC(D15B)(D15Z1)(D15Z4)(D15Z6), EJ9 1.4 SOHC (D14A3)(D14A4), Again the B16A2/B16B will be used from the EK4 (B16A2) and Ek9 (B16B), As previous its a straigh swap if you have the mounts/ecu/loom etc etc, the B18c/b18c4 is also a popular engine for both the EK not as simple as the B16a2 swaps, minor modifications are needed, uprated mounts for one. Engines that require relocation and extra bits and bobs are K20A2 (EP3Civic Type R 2001-2006), K24A2 (CL9 Accord Type S, RB1 Oddyssey), H22A (BB1/BB4/BB6/BB8 preludes) engines Also the 3.0/3.2l V6 J series engines from the Honda Legends/NSX will fit, but that includes removing the bonnet..... For good.

Hopefully this stops people asking what fits in what..... all the info is there i think, if i am missing bits please tell me and ill correct/add bits.

Best Regards
Adrian

Also meant to ask about the gearbox, do you need to pair the engine up with a gearbox of the same engine code? And will the gear linkage fit in an eg civic?

K seriers Boxes fit K series engines..... And sever mods will include re routing parts etc etc... remember the K seriers engines have the intake on the front and the exhaust at the back of the engine. and to fit the k series engines compared to the standard engines in most civic's youll have to fit the K24 the opposite way round. E.G the camgear side willl be on the drivers side. Unlike Say my Ek3 where the cam gear is on the passenger side and the gear box is on the drivers side.

Hope this helps.

use a P28 Ecu, dosnt have an immobiliser in it, Use your old Keys, will work the same way. Or you can take the immobiliser chip out of your old ECU. ;)
