Hi guys, i got my 1.4 EJ9 in august and when i was having some work done on it at Arnold Clark, they did a visual health check and said that my rear doughnut bushes were splitting and they would be good for 6 month but after that will probably need replacing, i have spoken to a mechanic i know and he has said that they will be fine until its starts knocking or effecting the car which atm it isnt. but i have done 10k since this health check and wondering if i should probably get them replaced? and if so any ideas how much they will cost or is it alright to do myself?

If you get them done then you know there done and they wont need doing anytime soon.
Dont no about cost, how confident are you at working on cars? sometimes bushes need "tools" to get them out big hammer doesnt seem to work so good. vices sometimes but a 10ton press is soooo much easier :D

or wait until they fail, how bad is the splitting? surface cracks then shld be fine. They may hav been trying to get more work out of you.

hope that helps. i have an EJ6 tho, maybe a EJ9 owner can do better.
