Hi Guys,

I have bought a 2012 Honda Civic 2.2 Diesel and when the engine in just ticking over i get a (Drown) and when i am in any gear driving i get a drown from 1,500 to 1,750 rpm and can not understand why, the drown is always their and don't know what the problem is.

1. it sounds like the exhaust manifold or a rubber mount that may have worn and that is the noise i can hear all the time.
2. When i am driving, say at 55 mph and put my foot on the clutch. the noise goes and the cabin is very quiet.

Does anyone have any ideas what this could be.

For the drown to stop when you press the clutch would point to the clutch or components being the cause. Could it be the clutch thrust bearing? But that is usually more of a Rattle when worn.

Hi Gareth003,

I took the car to my local garage and when you hold the throttle at 1200rpm you get a drone. when the bonnet was up, the drone went. the garage said that it sounds like the air box blowing back.

The noise did go when the bonnet was up, and when the bonnet was down the drone came back...... I unsure what to do.
