well, ist time to start saving hardcore, ive been quoted for the engine rebuild, this includes dartons sleves baby.

the block will be good for 750bhp, its all down to the kit i put together i suppose.

im aiming in the area of 300bhp low boost 540ish full boost.

the quoted price for the engine build was £5300 including all the parts, arp rods, skunk2 cams, valves, springs, eagle rods, wiseco pistons etc etc.

this a good price?

£5300 for the parts and fitting? Does this include the block?

Darton sleeves are about £500, more now with the current exchange rates, and you're probably looking at another £500+ for fitting on those. Who is fitting them, as sleeves is really someone specialist, and I highly suggest you have somewhere who use a CNC machine to cut the block.

Do you mean ARP rod bolts? I would look into getting ARP head studs and main studs too.

Good for 750bhp? I hope you're looking into forged cranks. Do you know exactly the list of parts you'll be getting? For 5300 is that the engine installed too? It seems a little bit steep but then I don't know the full spec...

all built and installed that doesnt sound a bad price to me. The parts will be well over 2k and building an engine like that is specialist work, every thing has to be perfect.

Anyway by the by of cost if your happy with the guys building it and work they have done in the past then price isnt always the thing you should go on.

Does the price include mapping though? If yes then the price is even better

What place is doing the work? Sounds like an alright price, if that includes a blueprinted build and balancing.

What crankshaft are you having?

Don't drive it on a basemap, literally use that to get to a tuning garage. Get them to make you a low boost map to run the engine in for 500+ miles and then go back for full tuning.

What turbo set up are you planning?

Just low boost for now mate whatever it takes to make about 270hp so probs 7-8psi. Seems to be about all the stock engine can take anyway, when i did the prelude they suffered from piston ringlands cracking with to high cylinder pressures so im hoping not to have simaler problems with the civic. Think the b18 is a bit tougher for boosting

What company has quoted these prices?

I didnt know Darton had any approved installers in the UK. Build sounds nice and depending on turbo/manifold choice and other ancills those power levels will be easily achieved. You could however get well over 400bhp from a simple piston/rod combo for a fraction of the cost, if this is a road car then it may be worth considering.

Good luck mate!!
