Recommended/Best Tyres for 2005 Civic Sport 1.6

Postby tike50 » 10 Dec 2009, 12:57

Ok, so this is probably a really random and s**t question.... But I need 2 new front tyres, and im just after a few opinions of whats best and what suits this car the most?
Currently got Roadstone (Nexens) on the front and Bridgestones on the back.....

I mean we always read in the mags about tyres etc - Redline for example in issue 144 done a whole article comparing budgets to high brands....!

BUT what are your views? and also anyone with experiance in swapping tyres and finding the best for this car????

Cheers fellas!

Now worries mate. Whats the actual profile of the tyres? Something like i.e 195/50/15 and I'll have a look for ya. Bets place I go for tyres is Ebay tho and they just get them fitted locally, normally much cheaper than any place will supply and fit them for.

Have a look here, I've filtered it for decent brands and will give you a good idea on price. Fitting is normally around £5-£10 a corner, everywhere near me was quoting £150 for a pair of Toyo T1R's supplied, fitted and balanced. I picked up a set for £120 off Ebay and got them fitted for another £20, very nice saving.

The way you were going on I thought you'd have saved a bit more than £10... but then again, £10 is £10, but to be honest, could be worth paying the extra £10 just so ya don't have to fanny about humping 4 new tires around to the local garage, not to mention waiting for delivery etc.

You've misread it. The £150 I was being quoted was for a PAIR, meaning £300 for the set. I paid £140 for the set fitted and balanced ;)

www.mytyres.co.uk - Very good site, with reviews. They use national tyres as the fitters. They have extensive reviews by reputable sources for most tyres. You can order fitted or just the rubber.

www.e-tyres.co.uk - easiest option, mobile fitter will come to wherever you want and do the fitting.

And no people do not afaik sell fake tyres on eBay. Not yet anyway, lol. They do however sell "data expired" tyres. By which I mean rubber than has been sitting around for a very very long time and is therefore not in top nick. That and part-worns.
