After market steering wheel help!

Postby PITTB*TCH » 05 Jul 2010, 20:17

right im probably being a tit, so i seek the advice of others.

i have an EK4 VTI-S and have a new steering wheel and hub (off of my old civic) but when i take off the stock steering wheel, you are confronted with a sort of spinning cassette-esque thing with a few cables sticking out.

i can link it up and earth it and make the horn work, but the hub wont fit on without removing it, and when it is removed i cant earth it or get the horn to work.

now i wouldnt really mind(im happy shaking my fists and shouting) but i need it to pass an MOT. on the last car i gave up yanked it out trimed everything back and got my local garage to fit a horn button on the dash(which is lame(they've usually driven off by the time i find it))

oh and its not that ive bought the wrong steering hub, im now on number three and they have all been the same from different companies.

please help me as if i dont find a solution im worried i might set my car on fire out of rage.

thanks,

the cassette looking thing is part of the srs, indicator auto cancel system..
and the correct adapter hub should have 2 legs coming off it to fit properly.
you can take it off. and wire the horn in yourself seperatly.
but it is a bollox to do TBH.

hmm theres is no legs coming off of it, perhaps i have been buying the wrong hubs?? there is two legs coming off of the cassette thingy, but the hub wont fit over them.

option 1:take it to a garage and pay someone to do it.

option 2: take it out and get a horn wired in seperately.

option 3: burn it.

option3 lol lol lol
dnt take it to a garage..
you just need the correct hub. request a srs spindle suitable hub..
it took me ages to find one to fit my car
and the horn is easy to wire.
two wires one is your earth. and the other your live.
make sure the earth is making ground. and the live to one of the terminals at the back of your wheel. sorted :D
