How To Get Pops Or Flames Without FLamer Kit

1.Orite guys just wondering as i had my last civic when i use to drive fast and change at redline my freinds would tell me they would see a flame coming out the exhaust just a small one
my freind who has a honda prelude also has a flame but a much larger one coming out and his is more common
ive got a rough idea as both our cars have stainless steel exhausts manifold back with no cat and also been mapped and its just unburnt fuel in the exhaust getting ignited it this right

im wanting it with my next civic i get and just making sure, im no chav who will be buying a stupid flamer kit


2. The other day i saw this peugeot 205 gti sitting at the lights bouncing his car off redlines and it would pop with flames coming out
is that just exhaust popping or is that maybe mapped in, my previous car which was a evo you could have that mapped and and some fuel added on the overrun so that it would slightly flame. How would you get it like that

its common with older cars which have aftermarket exhaust systems because the engines can very easilly over fuel. Its simply unburnt fuel and in most cases wasting money each time it happens.

You get it with really highly tuned cars aswell, especially turbo'd cars

If you really want it you need to get the car to over-fuel. This will cause running problems and cost you money in wasted petrol

Advancing the ignition and running a straight through exhaust can cause it to pop flames,completely pointless in my opinion.
You wont be going any quicker and will look like a bit of a tit when some old codger still goes past like your standing still in his bmw 330d as your bouncing off the limiter in a vain attempt to look cool to motorists behind you who dont even care.

Dont mean to sound like im bashing,but if youre going to pop flames,it might as well be because your car does it natrually rather than forced into it.

i was just wondering about how you get flames at a standstill, im not one to bounce my car off the limiter anyway so wouldnt go with that to get flames
and my civic i had there had a flame coming out on high revs changing from 3rd to 4th, so i liked the idea and would only happen at higher speeds

before you leave chuck a litre of petrol in your exhaust... should work nicely.

Flame kits are 1 for idiots with no sense. 2 are very dangerouse (too much fuel goes in it WILL IGNITE YOUR CAR !) 3 you'll look a twat. its already bad enough when i see a civic with a bodykit on let alone a f**king flame kit. a 4-2-1 and a decat. and let it pop at high revs. sod the s**t about standing still poping.

You have answered your own question really
the only way its going to happen is with high performance cars and turbos ,
my UR quattro used to do it it was remapped and a 3" exhaust from front to rear with a single box system it was as much the way the rev limiter worked (ignition only) as the performance doing it .

We used to do DIY flamer jobs years ago that worked far better than the ones you can buy now. What you did was drill a hole in your 4 branch exhaust manifold and weld in a dipstick tube. You then hooked up an air horn compressor to the dipstick tube which pumped stone cold air into the hot manifold. A set of twin 40's set on the rich side and you had proper 4 foot flames at the flick of a switch, none of the silly little poppy ones either. Old School

Went to a track day a while back, there was a heavily tuned evo that kept firing flames on the changes. One point it spat out a fook load and set some of his rear bumper on fire. He had to pit the car and put it out

easyest way to do it
get a decat and remove your egr valve

leave your engine to run untill its hotest it can get (without running risk of head gasket failure and stuff) then simply rev till about 6k knock the ignition off then wait till ure needle drops to about 3k then switch it back on
back fire... pops... maby a flame

not realy that good for your engine as in a way your technicly just flooding it then re igniting it
but if your that desperate to have wiked cool flames :| im sure you wont mind a bit of engine pain haha

Mine does it with a 4-2-1 Japspeed Mani, and a full 2.25 custom exhaust. i have the d15z6 engine pops like a bitch in heat.
