| | The mystery Aircon in my FRV (I know - it's not a civic)
Anyone experienced anything like this before, I'd be so grateful for an idea. I can take some pics of the motor if it helps.
I have a Honda FRV and the air con seems fine in the UK (in general temperatures). On the French motorways last couple of summer holidays, with extreme heat (30ish degrees c) it totally failed to work. Cruising at 70mph or so it would try to get the cabin cold for say 2 mins then pack up and just push out hot air.
So on the last trip after we'd had enough on the way down I went to a French garage and he "repressurised" the air con system. I am very sure he did it right as was with him and the machine as the gas was put in. Afterwards we ran the car and the aircon and it was putting out ICE COLD AIR - I mean this thing was freezing, he even had a thermometer thing inserted in the vent to prove it - but I could feel it, sub zero baby.
So I get the family in the car in sweltering heat for the return (8 hour plus journey home) confident I've done the right thing but NO, not working again. Great.
It's like it can't cope above a certain temp, so so annoying.
I know this is a civic forum but I understand the cars are similar in some respects. Could it be a faulty sensor or something - really grateful for ideas what might be happening.
Mrs FRV is giving me much grief over this matter as off to France again this Summer.
