    Default Annoying Cigerette Lighter Issue

I've recently bought a 54 reg Civic 1.4 S, and everything seems fine, except one minor but annoying problem. The ciggerette lighter works; when you push the "button" it heats up & can light a ciggerette with it. But when I put in my mobile phone/satnav car charger, nothing happens! The light on the charder doesn't light up and no connection is made with the phone/satnav.

I've tried the chargers on other cars & they work fine. I've also tried fiddling/moving the charger around, push it in as far as possible, etc. to try and get connection, but nothing seems to work.

    Anyone got any ideas?

Disconnect the car battery and try getting some wire wool and cleaning the inside of your cars cigarette lighter socket. Sometimes it can corrode slightly stopping good power connection to what ever you are trying to connect. If that doesn't work, make sure what ever you are plugging in isn't to lose or wobbly. Some car cigarette lighter holders are larger then others. So when you plug something in, it isn't making any contact at all. If this is the case, you can replace your cars cigarette lighter holder for a smaller unit, or bend out the metal connections on the side of your devices cigarette lighter, if that makes sense.

Also worth checking the fuse for your cigarette lighter, might be to low or you might even have a bad power connection to the cigarette lighter holder.

    Hope this will help.

    Default Annoying Cigarette Lighter Issue

I know this is an old thread but I have the exact same problem. The cigarette lighter heats up so it is obviously getting power, but plug-in devices (sat navs and USB charging cables etc.) don't work or at all. They work perfectly in other vehicles. It's almost like the socket isn't quite deep enough or something. I would like to know if anybody has any ideas or a remedy for this before I get the whole unit replaced. Thanks.
